Claire C. Cecchi is a United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey. She was nominated by President Barack Obama in 2014 and confirmed by the United States Senate in June of that year.
Prior to becoming a judge, Cecchi served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey, where she worked for over 25 years. During that time, she prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases, including drug trafficking, health care fraud, and public corruption.
Cecchi is a graduate of Rutgers University and Seton Hall University School of Law. After law school, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Harold A. Ackerman, a United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey.
In addition to her work on the bench, Cecchi has served on various legal organizations, including the New Jersey State Bar Association and the National Association of Women Judges.
